Use a 3/8 inch extension to check for 10 mm (3/8 inch) clearance between the fuel lines and the shift lever. See Figure 7.

If the clearance is 10 mm or greater, go to the next step.

If less than 10 mm clearance is observed, gently push up on the rear retaining bracket using only your hand to obtain adequate clearance while
maintaining at least 10 mm (3/8 inch) clearance from the top of the lines to the underbody. See Figure 8.

If you are unable to obtain the 10 mm (3/8 inch) clearance between the fuel lines and the shift linkage, or between the fuel lines and the
underbody, call the Recall Hotline at 1-800-325-5621.

Release the vehicle only if ALL the following conditions are met:

All clearances meet specification (10 mm minimum).
^
There are no signs of damage to either front or rear fuel line near the fuel filter.
