Push in on the axle shafts.

Remove the 2 U-washers.
7. CAUTION: Do not damage the axle shaft oil seals.
Remove the 2 axle shafts.

NOTE: If the Diagnostic Chart has directed the servicing of the differential clutch packs, the packs can be removed at this point.
Remove the differential gears by rotating the 2 differential pinion gears and washers to the differential case window.

Remove the 2 differential side gears and clutch packs and tag them "right" and "left".
Installation
1. Lubricate the lip of the axle shaft oil seal with grease.
2. NOTE: Install the left and right differential side gears and clutch packs, if removed.
Position the 2 differential pinion gears and rotate them to align with the pinion shaft holes.
3. CAUTION: Do not damage the axle shaft oil seal.
Install the 2 axle shafts.
4. CAUTION: Do not damage the rubber O-rings in the U-washer grooves.
Install the U-washers.

Position the 2 U-washers on the button end of the axle shafts.

Pull the axle shafts outward.
