Brake Shoe: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

-

Remove the rear brake drums; refer to Brake Drum service and repair.   

Wheel Cylinder Inspection Points

-

Inspect the wheel cylinder for excessive leakage.

NOTE: A slight amount of fluid is nearly always present and acts as a lubricant for the piston.

Rear Brake Shoes And Linings

-

Inspect:   
1. Rear brake shoes and linings for contamination.       
2. Rear brake shoes and linings for minimum thickness.

3. Springs for heat discoloration and distortion.

Replace components if necessary.

Brake Cylinder

-

Clamp the brake cylinder.
