Brake Adjuster Screw

Assemble the brake adjuster screw assembly.
NOTE: To prevent incorrect installation, the socket end of each brake adjuster screw is stamped R or L.

Apply Silicone Brake Caliper Grease and Dielectric Compound D7AZ-19A33 1-A or equivalent meeting Ford specification
ESE-MlCl7l-A.

Install the (A) brake adjuster screw into the (B) brake shoe adjusting. screw nut to the end of the threads and then loosen one-half turn.

Install the adjusting socket on the brake shoe adjusting screw nut.

Install brake adjuster components.

Install the brake adjuster screw assembly.

Install the brake shoe adjusting screw spring.
3
Install the brake. shoe adjusting lever.
4
Hook the cable in to the hole in the brake shoe adjusting lever.
5
Hook the brake shoe adjusting lever spring.
Brake Adjuster

Check the operation of the brake adjuster.

Pull the brake shoe adjusting lever cable.

The (A) brake shoe adjusting lever should snap in behind the next tooth of the (B) brake adjuster screw.
3
Release the brake shoe adjusting lever cable.
4
The brake adjuster screw should turn one notch.

Install rear Brake Drums; refer to the procedure in this section.
