Affected Vehicles
1997 F150 4 x 4 trucks equipped with the optional Off-Road Equipment Group, built at the Norfolk Assembly Plant from start of production through
June 24, 1996 and at the Kansas City Assembly Plant from start of production through July 31, 1996.

Reason For This Program
In the interest of customer satisfaction and to address customer expectation concerns Ford is initiating this program. Owners of affected trucks will be
requested to return their trucks for replacement of the 16-inch spare tires and wheels with "full size" 17-inch tires and steel wheels.

Service Action
Customers affected by this action will be informed that the existing 16-inch spare tire and wheel will be replaced at no charge with a 17-inch tire and
steel wheel.
 
A toll-free number is available for customers to call to arrange for the service offered by this program. Customers will select a servicing dealer and the
tire and wheel assembly (mounted and balanced) will be sent to dealership Parts Managers (see details for this type of program in the All-Dealer letter).

Low Volume Recalls and Owner Notification Programs
This program is being processed as a Low Volume Owner Notification program. This type of field action was announced in All-Dealer letter dated
December 18, 1995. A copy of that letter is included.
 
Owners will be contacting the Low Volume Recall Coordination Center to arrange for this service. We will advise you via MORS II contact of the
owner's name, telephone number, VIN, etc. The new 17-inch mounted and balanced tire and steel wheel assembly will be sent to you.
 
You are requested to contact the owner and arrange for this service. (Note that our Coordination Center will advise owners that they will hear from you
within the next two business days.)
