intake manifold attaching bolts should be 23-25 ft.lbs. (31-34 N-m). Return vehicle to customer for trial period (estimated 1,000 miles). If oil
consumption continues, proceed to Step 3.

Remove rocker arm covers and replace all intake and exhaust valve stem seals. Refer to the following application chart for the correct valve stem
seals.

Refer to appropriate Shop Manual, Section 21-21, for installing exhaust valve stem oil seals and refer to instructions in tool kit,
T87L-6571-BH, for installing intake valve guide mounted seals. Valve guide, mounted intake valve seals and nylon "umbrella" type exhaust
valve seals are used on these engines. The intake seals must be fully seated onto the guides without being cocked. The exhaust seals should
be attached to ride along with the valve stem. See Figure 12.

On passenger car engines, a nylon disk on the intake valve is used as an engine assembly aid and serves no useful function. Remove and throw
away nylon discs, Figure 13.
