Backing Plate
Removal
1. Remove the rear brake shoes and linings. For additional information, refer to Shoes.
2. Remove the axle shaft or the axle shaft and rear hub, if so equipped.
3. Compress the cable retainer and pull the parking brake rear cable and conduit from the brake backing plate.
4. Remove the rear wheel cylinder.

Disconnect the brake line fitting.

Remove the two rear wheel cylinder bolts.
3
Remove the rear wheel cylinder.
5. Remove the four backing plate-to-axle flange nuts and bolts and the brake backing plate.
