ISSUE
Some vehicles built 7/29/02 through 2/3/03 equipped with a 4.6L engine, may exhibit a crank no start when the CHT (Cylinder Head Temperature) is at
or below 0° F (-17° C). This may be caused by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) Calibration.
ACTION
Reprogram the PCM with an updated calibration.
Refer to the following Service Procedure for details.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1.
Check for any DTC's and service per the 2003 Workshop Manual.
2.
Using WDS or equivalent, re-program the PCM.
3.
Obtain an "Authorized Modification Decal" (FPS 8262) and list the date, dealer number, and summary of modifications performed along with the
appropriate information from the table.
