NOTE: Due to front crossmember interference on 4x4 models, it is not possible to get a regular socket to fit exactly flush onto the pitman arm nut.
Also, crow foot-type sockets are not sturdy enough to withstand the torque requirements of this application. For this repair, it has been deemed
acceptable to use a 6-point socket with an extension to tighten the nut to specification even though it will not fit flush over the nut. See Figures 1
and 2.
WARNING:
FAILURE TO HOLD THE SOCKET WRENCH FIRMLY ON THE NUT WHILE TIGHTENING MAY RESULT IN THE WRENCH
SLIPPING OFF THE NUT AND POSSIBLE PERSONAL INJURY.
Be sure to seat the socket over the nut as best as possible, then tighten the nut to 275 Nm (203 lb-ft).

Lower the vehicle.
