Caliper piston
NOTE: Do not hone the cylinder bores. Pistons are not available for honed cylinder bores.
ASSEMBLY:
CAUTION:Never reuse piston seals and dust boots.
NOTE: Never reuse brake fluid that has been drained from the hydraulic system or has been allowed to stand in an open container for an extended
period of time.
Front Disc Brake Caliper Pistons, Seals And Dust Boots

Lubricate the piston boot, caliper piston, piston seal, and cylinder bores with High Performance DOT3 Brake Fluid C6AZ-19542-AB or DOT 3
equivalent meeting Ford specification ESA-M6C25-A.

Install caliper pistons.

Install the piston seal.

Install the piston boot.

Insert the caliper piston.
CAUTION:Be careful not to damage or dislodge the piston seal.

Press the caliper piston into the cylinder bore being careful not to cock the caliper piston.

Bleed the system, refer to the Hydraulic System Service And Repair for bleeding procedures.
Removal and Installation
REMOVAL

Loosen the lug nuts.
CAUTION:Do not use heat to loosen a seized lug nut. Heat can damage the wheel and the wheel bearings.

Remove the center cap.

With the weight of the vehicle on the wheels,loosen the lug nuts.

Raise and support the vehicle.
WARNING: THE ELECTRICAL POWER TO THE AIR SUSPENSION SYSTEM MUST BE SHUT OFF PRIOR TO HOISTING,
JACKING OR TOWING AN AIR SUSPENSION VEHICLE. THIS CAN BE ACCOMPLISHED BY TURNING OFF THE
AIR SUSPENSION SWITCH LOCATED IN THE RH KICK PANEL AREA. FAILURE TO DO SO MAY RESULT IN
UNEXPECTED INFLATION OR DEFLATION OF THE AIR SPRINGS WHICH MAY RESULT IN SHIFTING OF THE
VEHICLE DURING THESE OPERATIONS.
