ISSUE
A heater "moan" at 1400-1800 rpm steady state, or "hooting" 1200-2000 rpm acceleration or deceleration may be heard on some vehicles. This may be
due to water pump pulsations.
ACTION
Replace the heater inlet hose with a revised heater inlet hose.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1.
Verify concern by clamping off the heater core inlet hose to stop coolant flow and listening for moaning or hooting noise.
2.
If noise is still present, check for other causes.
3.
If noise goes away, replace the heater inlet hose with revised hose. Refer to the appropriate Workshop Manual for replacement procedure.
4.
Verify repair.
