Compressor/Pump Relay: Description and Operation

The compressor relay is energized by the control module allowing high current flow from the battery to the compressor motor. 

The compressor relay is needed because the control module cannot directly provide the high current needed to run the compressor motor. The control
module powers the compressor relay to energize the relay coil. The coil creates a magnetic field which closes the relay contacts and provides power to
the air compressor.
