Camshaft: Testing and Inspection
End Play
1. Remove the valve tappet.
2. Use Dial Indicator With Bracketry to measure camshaft end play.
3. Position the camshaft to the rear of the cylinder block.
4. Zero Dial Indicator With Bracketry.
5. Move the camshaft to the front of the cylinder block. Note and record the camshaft end play.

If camshaft end play exceeds specifications, replace the camshaft thrust plate.
