WATER PUMP REINSTALLATION (6.9L DIESEL) - UPDATED PROCEDURE

TSB Article No. 83-25-20 dated December 13, 1983, calls attention to two 1-1/4 inch long bolts with flat washers required as shown in Figure 10 to
prevent damage to the injection pump drive gear. This is required with early model water pumps having casting No. 446430 C1 or C2. The casting No. is
located on the pump casting, as shown in Figure 10.
Late model water pumps having casting No. 446430 C3 include two 1-1/2 inch long bolts in the replacement parts package (the two casting bosses are
raised 1/4 inch, to eliminate the need for the two shorter bolts and flat washers).
If, however, the pump being installed is an early model, with the casting No. 446430 C1 or C2, installation of two 1-1/4 inch long bolts with flat washers
per TSB Article No. 83-25-20 is mandatory to prevent damage to the injection pump drive gear.
