Proceed with setting timing to prescribed specifications (Figure 19). Be sure to use Cetane Value Test, Tool No. 078-00121. Cetane value should
be measured to determine the correct specification that the injection timing should be set at.
When setting the dynamic timing, it is very important that all of the degree readings show minus(-) indicating ATDC (after top dead center), on the
timing meter. Any plus (+) readings, indicating BTDC (before top dead center), will cause poor engine performance and may eventually cause engine
damage.
