ISSUE:
Lubrication of the brake caliper to spindle (top and bottom "V" groove, abutment surfaces and knuckle shoe rails as shown in Figure 1)
should not be necessary except as noted in the maintenance schedule. These points are now lubricated during production of the vehicle.
This production lubrication should minimize sticking, binding, grabbing and premature brake pad wear complaints. It should also contribute to
elimination of drift while braking and steady state drift complaints.
ACTION:
Lubricate the brake caliper to spindle only when required by the vehicle maintenance schedule. Use disc brake caliper slide lubricant.
