Measure the distance from the steering stop on the spindle to the front axle 1-beam, Figure 1.
a.
If less than 3/4", stop here. This is normal within the tolerance of the steering gear.
b.
If 3/4" or more, continue with the service procedure.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1.
Replace the existing Pitman arm with a new one (E9TZ-3590-C). Refer to the 1992 F-Super Duty Service Manual, Section 11-03, for service
details.
2.
Record right and left turn angles when the steering goes into the manual mode. The right turn should now be about 70 more than it was before.
