Valve Cover: Service and Repair

Engine Harness View
REMOVAL
1. Remove the alternator retaining bolt and position the heater hose aside.
2. Remove the drive belt (8620).
3. Disconnect the alternator electrical connectors.
4. Remove the alternator bracket retaining bolts.
5. Remove the alternator bracket (10A313) (with alternator (1O3OO) attached).
6. Remove the oil level indicator bracket bolts, bracket and oil level dipstick (675O).
WARNING: RED-STRIPED WIRES CARRY 115 VDC. SEVERE ELECTRICAL SHOCK MAY BE RECEIVED. DO NOT PIERCE.
CAUTION: Do not pierce engine electrical wires or damage to the harness may occur.
7. Remove the fuel injector harness clip, and disconnect the engine harness electrical connectors from the valve cover gasket (6584).
8. Remove the valve cover bolts and valve cover (6582).
9. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the fuel injectors and glow plugs.
10. Remove the valve cover gasket and cover.
INSTALLATION
1. Install the valve cover gasket.
