If no noise is detected, proceed by turning the blower speed up one position at a time and listen for the noises in "Panel", "Floor" and "Defrost"
modes. Repeat this step for all blower speed settings.

If no noise is heard at the plenum, it is possible there could be a problem in the duct work, register or defrost nozzle. Be sure to check these areas
for the reported noise using the same procedure as used for checking plenum noise.
7.
If the reported noise is detected at the plenum, proceed with the proper repair procedure listed in Repair Procedure in this article.
8.
Recheck the system to ensure it was the only area with an air leak noise.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
Air leak noise located at:
1.
Guide pins at the bottom of the heater core cover:

Apply and press in soft sealer around the two bottom pins.
2.
Tooling hole region:
^
Apply rope sealer to the underside of the tooling boss hole along the parting line.

Fill in tooling boss hole and cavity around hole.
3.
Inboard upper stud region:

Plenum must be removed for this repair. Refer to the 1994 F-Series/Bronco Service Manual for removal and installation procedures.

Add and press in soft sealer at the parting line at or near the inboard stud.
4.
Region above the temperature door at the pivot inside the plenum:

If this area is the cause of the noise concern, the plenum will have to be replaced. Refer to the 1994 F-Series/Bronco Service Manual for
removal and installation procedures. Replace the plenum using a new stripped plenum (F3TZ-18A484-B) built after 6/15/94.
5.
Heater core cover outer diameter:

Remove the heater core cover and apply rope sealer to the outer edge of the cover. Reinstall the cover. Refer to the 1994 F-Series/Bronco
Service Manual for removal and installation procedures.
