INSPECTION
1.
Turn ignition key to the "Key-on" position. Verify that the airbag readiness light in the instrument panel illuminates for 6-8 seconds and then goes
out. If so, release the vehicle. If not, proceed to "Diagnostic Monitor Replacement" below.
DIAGNOSTIC MONITOR REPLACEMENT
WARNING
The electrical circuit necessary for air bag system deployment is powered directly from the battery and backup power supply. To avoid accidental
deployment and possible personal injury, the positive battery cable must be disconnected for at least one minute prior to servicing or replacing any
system components.
NOTE
Record radio stations prior to disconnecting the positive battery cables.
1.
Disconnect positive battery cable and wait at least one minute for backup power supply energy to be depleted.
2.
Locate air bag diagnostic monitor (all black) beneath the instrument panel and to the right of the steering column. Only monitors which are all
black are to be replaced. Blue/black monitors are ok.
