Blower Motor: Service and Repair

California Vehicles
REMOVAL
1. Disconnect battery ground cable(s).
2. Remove emission module forward of blower motor.
3. Disconnect wire harness connector from blower motor by pushing down on connector tabs and pulling connector off blower motor.
4. Disconnect blower motor housing tube at blower motor.
5. Remove four screws attaching blower motor to heater plenum chamber case.
6. Holding blower motor housing tube, pull blower motor from heater plenum chamber case and remove it from vehicle.
7. If the blower motor wheel is to be installed on the new blower motor, remove the retainer and then gently pull the blower motor wheel from the
shaft.
INSTALLATION
1. Follow removal procedure in reverse order.
NOTE: When the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the Powertrain Control
Module (PCM) relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16km (10 miles) or more to relearn the strategy.
Non-California Vehicles
REMOVAL
1. Disconnect battery ground cable(s).
2. Disconnect wire harness connector from blower motor by pushing down on connector tabs and pulling connector off blower motor.
3. Disconnect blower motor housing tube at blower motor.
4. Remove four screws attaching blower motor to heater plenum chamber case.
5. Holding blower motor housing tube, pull blower motor from heater plenum chamber case and remove it from vehicle.
6. If the blower motor wheel is to be installed on the new blower motor, remove the retainer and then gently pull the blower motor wheel from the
shaft.
