Engine Control Module: Removal and Replacement
REMOVAL
NOTE: When the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the Powertrain Control Module
(PCM) relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 miles) or more to relearn the strategy.
1. Disconnect battery negative cable.
2. Loosen engine control sensor wiring to PCM connector retainer bolt.
3. Remove engine control sensor wiring connector from powertrain control module.
4. Remove the two powertrain control module seal nuts and loosen left fender liner screws. Remove liner or bend down to clear PCM. Remove PCM
from vehicle.
INSTALLATION
1. Follow removal procedure in reverse order.
2. Tighten PCM retainer nuts to 3-4 Nm (27-35 lb in). Tighten engine control sensor wiring connector retainer bolt to 4 Nm (35 lb in).
