ISSUE
A "buzzing" noise may be heard at certain speeds and loads coming from the shift lever. This may be caused by the powertrain producing vibrations that
cause the shifter to vibrate since it is not isolated.
ACTION
Replace the shifter and shifter handball. The revised shifter and shifter handball isolate the assembly from the powertrain. Refer to the following Service
Procedure for details.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1.
Slit outer skin of handball and remove covering.
2.
Using a 5/8" open-end wrench and a hammer, remove the handball inner core.
3.
Remove the outer boot from the floor pan.
4.
Remove the plastic door sill and the kick panel from the driver's side footwell.
5.
Pull up the carpet to expose the four (4) attaching screws holding down the inner boot.
6.
Remove the screws and the inner boot.
7.
Remove the attaching bolt on the handle.
8.
Remove the handle.
9.
Install revised handle by following the reverse order.

13.
