Backing Plate Lubrication Points

Clean and lubricate the brake backing plate.

Use Premium Long-Life Grease XG-l-C or-K or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESA-M1C75-B or Silicone Brake Caliper Grease and
Dielectric Compound, D7AZ-19A331-A, WA-10 or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESE-M1C171-A.
Brake Shoe Retracting Spring

Install the brake shoe retracting spring on the primary and secondary shoes and linings.
Brake Adjuster Screw Assembly
-
Assemble the brake adjuster screw assembly.
NOTE: To prevent incorrect installation, the socket end of each brake adjuster screw is stamped R or L.

Apply Silicone Brake Caliper Grease and Dielectric Compound D7AZ-19A331-A or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESE-M1C171-A.

Install the brake adjuster screw into the brake shoe adjusting screw nut to the end of the threads and then loosen one-half turn.

Install the adjusting socket on the brake shoe adjusting screw nut.
