Inspect. &, if nec., Install. of a Brake Pedal Pushrod Retainer.
IMPORTANT NOTE
It is critical that FCSD find out, as part of this Safety Recall, if any pushrod retainers were missing. Therefore, if you find ANY vehicle with a
MISSING pushrod retainer, immediately call this toll-free number: 1-800-325-5621. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
Affected Vehicles
Certain 1997 Model Year F-Series Trucks built at Norfolk Assembly Plant from 8/19/96 through 8/23/96.
Reasons For Recall
The brake pedal to vacuum booster pushrod retainer pin on a small number of the affected vehicles may not have been properly installed on the service
brake pedal. Improperly installed or missing retainers could result in loss of service braking capability. This could occur without warning and result in an
accident. The vehicle parking brake system would not be affected and would remain operational.
DO NOT DEMONSTRATE, DRIVE, OR DELIVER ANY OF THESE VEHICLES UNTIL THEY HAVE BEEN INSPECTED, AND, IF
NECESSARY, CORRECTED.
Dealers should contact any owners who have taken delivery of any of the affected vehicles and advise them to have their vehicles inspected, and, if
necessary, corrected.
To correct this condition, dealers are to inspect the pushrod retainer for proper installation and install it if it is missing.
