Evaporative Emission Control Canister: Service and Repair
REMOVAL
WARNING:
The evaporative emissions system contains fuel vapor and condensed fuel vapor. Although not present in large quantities, it still presents the danger of
explosion or fire. Disconnect the battery ground cable from the battery to minimize the possibility of an electrical spark occurring, possibly causing a
fire or explosion if fuel vapor or liquid fuel are present in the area.
1. Raise and support the vehicle.
2. Disconnect the evaporative emissions canister purge solenoid electrical connector.
3. Disconnect the remote vent hose.
NOTE: Once the hose has been disconnected, it should not be reused. Use the new hose supplied with the new canister.
CAUTION: Do not use any sharp instruments to remove or cut off the fuel vapor hose. This may damage the O-rings or the tee.
4. Compress the clamp and disconnect the fuel vapor hose.
