Canister Purge Solenoid: Description and Operation

This valve, Fig. 52, used on some vehicles, controls the flow of vapors from the carbon canister to the intake manifold during various engine
operating modes. This is a normally closed valve that is opened by a signal from the electronic engine control assembly to control carbon canister
purging.
