Brake Caliper: Service and Repair
Removal

1. To avoid overflow when the caliper pistons are compressed into the caliper pistons bores, remove a portion of brake fluid from master cylinder
disc brake reservoir. Properly dispose the removed fluid.
2. Raise and support vehicle. Remove wheel and tire assembly.
Bottoming Caliper Piston
3. Install an appropriate size C-clamp on caliper. Tighten clamp to bottom caliper pistons in cylinder bores. Remove the clamp.
NOTE: Do not use screwdriver or other edged tool to pry pistons from rotor.
4. Clean excess dirt from area around pin tabs.
5. Tap upper caliper pin towards inboard side until pin tabs touch the spindle face.
6. Insert a screwdriver into the slot provided behind the pin tabs on the inboard side of the pin.
