VACUUM REGULATOR VALVE (VRV) CHECK AND ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURE (6.9L DIESEL) - WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION

The following article is being re-issued to update the warranty status information. It was originally issued as Article 83-10-21 dated May 17, 1983.
The vacuum regulator valve (VRV) provides a vacuum signal to control transmission shift points. The VRV should have its vacuum setting periodically
checked at 5,000; 15,000; 30,000; 45,000; 60,000; 75,000 and 90,000 miles; or on an as-required basis if shift points are not to specification. (See the
following table for shift points).
The Vacuum Regulator Valve (VRV) Check and Adjustment Procedure is as follows:
NOTE:
The engine MUST NOT be running through all Steps 1 through 12 when adjusting the VRV to specification.
