If the slave cylinder push rod cannot be depressed, shorten master cylinder push rod.

If release lever can be pushed forward per the above evaluation and clutch slippage still exists, refer to the 1983 Light Truck Shop Manual,
Sections 16-01/16-04 for further problem diagnosis.
