TECHNICAL INSTRUCTIONS
BEFORE PROCEEDING, CHECK OASIS TO VERIFY THAT VEHICLE IS AFFECTED.
WARNING
The electrical circuit necessary for system deployment is powered directly from the battery and backup power supply. To avoid accidental deployment
and possible personal injury, the positive battery cable must be disconnected for at least one minute prior to servicing or replacing any system
components.
1.
Disconnect positive battery cable and wait at least one minute for backup power supply energy to be depleted.
2.
Locate air bag diagnostic monitor (all blue) beneath the instrument panel and to the right of the steering column.
3.
Depress tabs retaining air bag diagnostic monitor air bag monitor bracket (14B058). Slide air bag diagnostic monitor off air bag monitor bracket.
(Replace monitor only if both housing and base is blue.)
4.
Disconnect two electrical wiring connectors from air bag diagnostic monitor (if not previously disconnected per 8/26/93 Mailgram). Remove air
bag diagnostic monitor.
5.
Install new air bag diagnostic monitor (black body with blue base) - follow removal procedures in reverse order.
6.
Run system prove-out check:
Turn the ignition switch from OFF to RUN and visually monitor the air bag indicator. The air bag indicator will light continuously for six seconds
and then turn off. If a system fault is present, the indicator will either fail to light, remain lit continuously or light in a flashing manner. The
flashing manner may not occur until approximately 30 seconds after the ignition switch has been turned from OFF to RUN. This is the time
required for the air bag diagnostic monitor to complete testing of the system.
7.
Return the removed air bag diagnostic monitor, freight prepaid - see Attachment II for procedure.
