Input Shaft: Service and Repair
DISASSEMBLE
Position two collet halves (44803 and 44797) of universal bearing remover set tool No. D81L-4220A or equivalent, around input shaft bearing cone,
then install pulling tube assembly on collet halves and pull input shaft bearing from input shaft.
ASSEMBLE
1. Inspect surface of input shaft in area of bearing race to ensure it is smooth and free of burrs.
2. Inspect condition of guide splines.
3. Place bearing on input shaft, then the bearing cone replacer tool No. T85T-4621-AH over bearing.

4. Position shaft, bearing and bearing cone replacer in press plates tool No. T75L-1165-B as shown in the Input Shaft Bearing Removal image.
NOTE: An alternate method to the previous step is to heat input shaft tapered roller bearing inner race to approximately 320° F, using a suitable
gear heater. Ensure not to heat race for more than 15 minutes.
5. Install inner race, then if necessary seat race using a suitable tool. If necessary to drive bearing on, ensure to drive against inner race and not
against bearing cone.
