Removal and Installation
1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist.
2. Remove the steering linkage damper nut and separate the steering linkage damper from the drag link.
^
To install, tighten to 90 Nm (67 ft. lbs.).
3. Remove the steering linkage damper-to-bracket nut and the steering linkage damper.
^
To install, tighten to 35 Nm (26 ft. lbs.).
4. NOTE: When repairing the steering linkage clean the steering linkage damper shaft of all corrosion and dirt. Buff the damper shaft smooth.
Repairing the linkage changes the damper travel slightly. A dirty/corroded shaft can damage the damper seal and create a leak.
To install, reverse the removal procedure.
