F 350 2WD Pickup V8-6.9L DSL (1983)
Push Rod: Service and Repair
1.
Disconnect battery ground cables.
2.
On E-250---350 models, remove fan shroud halves and the engine cover.
3.
If working on righthand cylinder bank on E-250---350 models, proceed as follows:
a. Remove engine oil dipstick and tube assembly and the valve cover bracket.
b. Remove transmission dipstick and filler tube.
c. Raise and support vehicle.
d. Remove righthand engine mount insulator-to-frame attaching nuts.
e. Raise right side of engine slightly until fuel filter header touches body sheet metal, then install a wooden block between insulator and frame
and lower engine to rest on block.
f.
Lower vehicle.
4.
On all models, remove valve cover attaching screws and the valve cover.
5.
Remove rocker arm post mounting bolts.
6.
Remove rocker arms and posts, and the pushrods in order so they may be installed in their original positions.
7.
Reverse procedure to install. Install rocker arm post attaching bolts with timing mark set at 11 o'clock position, as viewed from front of engine,
and torque to 20 ft. lbs.
