Fuel Injector: Service and Repair
Prior to removing nozzle, clean exterior of nozzle assembly with clean fuel oil or solvent to prevent contamination.
1.
Remove fuel line retaining clamp from nozzle line.
2.
Disconnect fuel inlet and leak-off lines from nozzle assembly. Cap all openings.
3.
Remove nozzle from head by turning counterclockwise.
4.
Reverse procedure to install. Note the following:
a. Install a new copper gasket on each nozzle assembly.
b. Apply suitable anti-seize compound to nozzle threads. Torque nozzle assembly to 33 ft. lbs.
c. Install two new O-rings in each fuel return tee.
d. Run engine and check for leaks. If necessary, purge air from high pressure fuel lines by loosening connector one half to one full turn and
cranking engine until fuel, free of air bubbles, flows from connector.
