HESITATION, SURGE, FUEL STARVATION (6.9L DIESEL AND 7.5L) WITH DUAL TANKS
LIGHT TRUCKS 1983 F SERIES
Fuel starvation on vehicles equipped with dual tanks and 6.9L or 7.5L engines may be the result of a kink in the aft-of-axle fuel sender supply rubber
hose. If a kinked condition exists on the vehicle, the following service procedure has been developed to eliminate this kinking condition.
To alleviate any kinks in the aft-of-axle sender supply house, the screw clamp located at the aft-of-axle sender hose and tube connection should be
removed and the rubber hose slipped off the tube. At this time, a 6" piece of nylon convolute, E4TZ-9C291-A should be slid over the hose and the hose
should then be re-installed onto the aft-of-axle fuel tube using the screw clamp previously removed. The clamp must be torqued to 1-1.5 N-m (8-13
in.lbs.).
