A new front pump gasket was incorporated in May, 1983 on all AOD transmissions. The pump gasket is notched matching a recessed area in the pump
body. This will allow transmission fluid to drainback at a higher point into the case, alleviating some transmission pump case leakage concerns. Refer to
Figure 15 for a comparison of the new notched front pump gasket and the original design gasket. Refer to Figure 16 for the location of the front pump
recessed area.
