4. Strike the punch with a hammer. Make sure that the shoulder of the retaining nut is contacting the bottom of the groove, Figure 3.

CAUTION: WHEN STAKING THE NUT, MAKE SURE THE LOCKING SHOULDER OF THE NUT AND THE GROOVE OF THE OUTPUT

SHAFT ARE THE ONLY AREAS USED IN THIS STAKING OPERATION. IF THE NUT IS STRUCK IN ANY OTHER AREA, THE
TORQUE WILL BE LOST AND THE NUT MAY COME LOOSE IN SERVICE.
