5.4L AND 6.8L GAS ENGINE CALIBRATION UPDATE

ISSUE
Some 2008-2009 F-Super Duty 250-550 vehicles equipped with a 5.4L or 6.8L engine and built on or before 3/12/2009, 2008 F53 Motorhome chassis
equipped with 6.8L engine and either a 5R110W or M6HD transmission may experience a rolling idle or idle speed dropping below specification,
malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) along with diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs). The DTCs include the following:
P0111 (Intake Air Temperature Sensor 1 Circuit Range/Performance), P1635 (Tire/Axle Out of Acceptable Range), P0054 (Exhaust Gas Temperature
Sensor Circuit - Bank 1 Sensor 1) or P0456 (Evaporative Emission System Leak Detected - Very Small Leak).
Vehicles equipped with a 5R110W automatic transmission may also experience intermittent symptoms in reverse as described below when performing
repetitive engagements and drive-away events such as snowplowing.
ACTION
Reprogram the powertrain control module (PCM) to the latest calibration using IDS release 59.12 and higher or 60.05 and higher. This new calibration is
not included in the VCM 2009.3 DVD. Calibration files may also be obtained at website. Refer to the following Service Procedure for a listing of
specific updates contained in the calibration revision.
