Temperature Sensor (Gauge): Service and Repair
Removal
CAUTION: Do not mix Standard (green) Coolant with Extended Life Coolant (orange). If this contamination occurs the service change
interval on Extended Life Coolant will be reduced from 6 years/ 150,000 miles to 3 years/ 30,000 miles.
1. Remove the air cleaner assembly.
2. Partially drain the cooling system.
3. Disconnect the electrical connector. Remove the engine coolant temperature sensor from the intake manifold.
Installation
1. Follow the removal procedure in reverse order.

Apply Ford Pipe Sealant with Teflon(R) D8AZ-19554-A or equivalent meeting Ford specifications WSK-M2G350-A2 and ESR-M18P7-A to
the threads of the sender unit.

Apply Silicone Dielectric Compound D7AZ-19A331-A or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESE-M1C171-A to the inside of the wire
connector.
