Axle Beam: Service and Repair
Axle - F-250, F-350
NOTE: LH shown, RH similar.
Removal
CAUTION: Suspension fasteners are critical parts because they affect performance of vital components and systems and their failure can result in
major service expense. They must be replaced with the same part number or an equivalent part if replacement is necessary. Do not use a replacement
part of lesser quality or substitute design. Torque values must be used as specified during reassembly to make sure of correct retention of these parts.
1. Remove the wheel spindle.
2. Remove the radius arm.
3. NOTE: In order to obtain clearance to remove the pivot bolt from the RH axle, it will be necessary to raise the LH axle.
Remove the pivot nut, bolt and the axle.
Installation
1. Inspect the pivot bushing for wear or damage. Install a new bushing as necessary.
2. CAUTION: Tighten the axle pivot nut with the suspension at curb height.
Position the front axle into the pivot bracket, install the pivot bolt and nut until snug.
3. Install the radius arm.
4. Install the wheel spindle.
