3. Remove the grease cap from the hub assembly.
4. Remove the cotter pin, wheel hub nut retainer, nut and flat washer.

Discard the wheel hub nut.

5. NOTE:  Inspect the condition of the wheel spindle and threads, clean or replace as necessary.

Remove the outer wheel bearing assembly, then remove the hub and brake disc assembly.

6. CAUTION:  Do not damage the wheel bearing cage while removing.

Using a suitable slide hammer and bearing seal remover, remove the inner wheel bearing seal and bearing.

Installation 

1. CAUTION:  Do not spin the bearing dry with compressed air.

NOTE:  Remove all traces of lubricant from the bearings, hub and spindle. Inspect bearings and bearing cups for pitting, spalling or unusual wear.
If either bearings or bearing cups are worn or damaged, replace both bearings and bearing cups.

NOTE:  It is recommended that bearings and bearing cups be replaced in sets. If cups are worn or damaged, install the inner and outer bearing
cups in the hub with an appropriate bearing cup driver tool. Check for proper seating of the new seating cups by trying to insert a 0.38 mm (0.015
inch) feeler gauge between the bottom face of the cup and wheel hub seat. You should not be able to insert the feeler gauge.

Remove all burrs, nicks or scratches from the shoulder of the spindle and seal bore in the hub with emery cloth.

2. Pack the inside of the hub with wheel bearing grease. Fill the hub until the grease is flush with the inside diameters of both bearing cups.
3. Using a bearing packer, pack the wheel bearing assemblies with wheel bearing grease. If a packer is not available, work as much lubricant as

possible between the rollers and cages.

4. Place the inner wheel bearing cone and roller assembly in the inner cup and, using a suitable seal replacer, install the wheel bearing hub seal. Make

sure the seal is fully seated and lubricated.

5. CAUTION:  Keep the hub and brake disc assembly centered on the wheel spindle to prevent damage to the grease seal and spindle threads.

Position the hub and brake disc assembly onto the wheel spindle.

6. NOTE:  Do not tighten the nut at this time.

Position the outer wheel bearing cone and roller assembly and the flat washer on the spindle, then loosely install the wheel hub nut.

7. Adjust the wheel bearing end play. 
8. Position the brake caliper and anchor plate assembly and install the 2 bolts.

For F-250 and F-350, tighten the bolts to 225 Nm (166 ft. lbs.).

For F-450 and F-550, tighten the bolts to 400 Nm (295 ft. lbs.).
