Engine Control Module: Removal and Replacement
Powertrain Control Module (PCM)
Removal
1. NOTICE: Make sure the ignition switch is in the OFF position prior to working on the electronic engine controls or the vehicle may be
damaged.
Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
2. Retrieve the module configuration. Carry out the module configuration retrieval steps of the Programmable Module Installation (PMI) procedure.

3. Remove the air cleaner element.
4. Remove the transmission fluid level indicator.
5. Disconnect the PCM electrical connectors.
6. Detach the wiring harness retainer.
7. Remove the 2 nuts and the PCM.
Installation
All vehicles
1. Position the PCM and install the 2 nuts

Tighten to 7 Nm (62 lb-in).
2. Attach the wiring harness retainer.
3. Connect the PCM electrical connectors.

Make sure the wiring harness connector is attached.
4. Install the transmission fluid level indicator.
