Backing Plate: Service and Repair
Removal and Installation
REMOVAL
1. Remove axle and rear hub assembly.
2. Remove the rear brake shoes and linings and rear wheel cylinder.
3. Disconnect the parking brake lever from the cable.
4. Remove the brake backing plate.
INSTALLATION
1. Position the brake backing plate on the retaining bolts in the axle housing flange.
2. Install the rear wheel cylinder and rear brake shoes and linings. Connect the parking brake cable to the parking brake lever.
3. Connect the rear brake line to the rear wheel cylinder, and bleed air from the system.
4. Install rear hub, brake drum and axle shaft.
