ISSUE:
A rolling idle may be evident on some vehicles. This may be caused by the calibration of the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
ACTION:
Replace the PCM. The revised PCM has a new calibration to reduce the possibility of a rolling idle. Refer to the PCM Application Chart and text for
correct PCM replacement.
Obtain an Authorized Modification Decal (FPS 8262 - obtainable through DOES II, 25/pkg) and list the date, dealer number, and summary of
modifications performed. Select a prominent place adjacent to the Vehicle Emission Control Information Decal suitable for installing the Authorized
Modifications Decal. Clean the area, install the decal, and cover it with a clear plastic decal shield.
After replacing the PCM, start the engine and perform EEC-IV self test. Confirm the rolling idle condition has been eliminated and that no Diagnostic
Trouble Codes (DTC) are present. If any DTCs appear, refer to the appropriate year Service Manual and follow normal diagnostics.
