Steering Damper: Service and Repair
REMOVAL
1. Remove nut attaching the damper to bracket on steering linkage.
2. Remove nut attaching the damper to right damper bracket.
3. Remove damper from attaching brackets.
NOTE: The damper right bracket and steering linkage bracket can be removed from vehicle by removing the retaining bolts and nuts.
INSTALLATION
1. If the damper right bracket or the steering linkage bracket was removed, install onto vehicle. Tighten to 24-30 Nm (18-22 ft. lbs.).
NOTE: If a new steering linkage bracket is being installed, make sure the bracket is properly positioned on the steering sector shaft arm drag link
before tightening the U-bolt retaining nuts.
2. Install the damper in the attaching brackets.
3. Install the nut that attaches the damper to the right bracket to 34-48 Nm (25-35 ft. lbs.).
