Suspension Strut / Shock Absorber: Service and Repair
Front Air Shock Absorber
CAUTION: The low pressure gas front shock absorbers are charged with nitrogen gas to 931 kPa (135 psi) for 1-inch and 1-3/16-inch bore, and 1034
kPa (150 psi) for 1-3/8-inch bore. Do not attempt to open, puncture or apply heat to the shock absorbers.
REMOVAL
1. Remove front shock absorber-to-upper shock bracket nut and bolt.
2. Disconnect the lower end of the front shock absorber bolt and nut from the U-bolt plate.
3. Compress the front shock absorber and remove.
INSTALLATION
1. Insert front shock absorber into the front shock absorber mounting bracket. Insert bolt and tighten nut to 60-80 Nm (44-59 ft. lbs.).
2. Attach the lower end of the front shock absorber to the U-bolt plate by installing the nut and bolt. Tighten to 60-80 Nm (44-59 ft. lbs.).
