Pinion Seal Installation
12. Install the rear axle drive pinion seal in the housing bore using Pinion Seal Replacer T83T4676-A.
13. Coat the lips of the rear axle drive pinion seal with Premium Long-Life Grease XG-1-C or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESA-M1C75-B.
14. From the rear of the axle housing, install the drive pinion with the drive pinion bearing adjustment shims (4663), differential pinion bearing (4630)
(inner), and differential drive pinion collapsible spacer into the housing pinion shaft bore.
Drive Pinion Assembly
15. Apply a small amount of lubricant to the rear axle universal joint flange splines. Align the mark on the rear axle universal joint flange (4851) with
the mark on the pinion stem. If a new rear axle universal joint flange is being installed, disregard the scribe mark on the pinion stem.
CAUTION: The Companion Flange Replacer T85TA851-AH must be used to install the rear axle universal joint flange.
NOTE: The rear axle universal joint flange must never be hammered on or installed with power tools.
16. With the drive pinion in place in the axle housing, install rear axle universal joint flange using Companion Flange Replacer T85T4851-AH and
Companion Flange Holding Tool T57T4851-B.
