Evaporator Core: Service and Repair

1.
Disconnect battery ground cable. Discharge refrigerant from system.
2.
Disconnect pressure switch electrical connector and remove from suction accumulator, Fig. 16.
3.
Disconnect refrigerant lines from accumulator and evaporator. Plug all open lines to prevent entry of dirt and moisture into system.
4.
Working in passenger compartment, remove screw attaching bottom of plenum to dash panel.
5.
Working under hood, remove nut retaining upper left corner of evaporator case to dash panel.
6.
Remove six screws attaching left evaporator housing to evaporator case.
7.
Remove two spring clips holding left side of housing cover plate and left housing together at dash panel.
8.
Remove evaporator housing from case.
9.
Remove evaporator core and suction accumulator from evaporator case.
10.
Reverse procedure to install. Use new O-rings lubricated with refrigerant oil.
11.
Evacuate, charge and leak test system. Check for proper operation.
