Dear Owner:
This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.
Ford Motor Company has determined that certain 1988 model F-150/250/350 and F-350 Super Duty light truck vehicles equipped with optional sliding
rear windows fail to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 205, "Glazing Materials." Our records indicate that you own one
of the vehicles involved.
Non-Compliance
FMVSS No. 205 requires tempered glass test specimens, when fractured, to break into pieces weighing no more than 0.15 ounce.
The stationary tempered glass sections of your sliding rear window assembly may not be properly tempered and if broken may
result in pieces larger than 0.15 ounces. Broken glass pieces smaller than 0.15 ounces are believed to be less likely than larger
pieces to cause personal injuries to occupants in an accident.
Inspection:
Owners are asked to inspect (see enclosed inspection page) both stationary glass sections of the sliding rear window assembly for
the following markings:

An encircled capital (H)

The character "DOT-35"
-
The character "8A"
If all three of these markings ARE FOUND on one or both of the stationary glass sections, you should contact a dealer for an
appointment to have the stationary glass section(s) replaced. If neither of the stationary glass sections bears all three of these
markings, you are requested to sign the enclosed prepaid inspection post card and MAIL THE CARD to Ford Motor Company.
NOTE:
If you prefer to have your dealer inspect the stationary glass for these markings, you may take your vehicle to your dealer.
Your dealer will inspect for these markings at no cost to you. If the inspection shows that a replacement is required, you
should make an appointment for the recall work to be done.
Repairs:
At no cost to you, your dealer will replace stationary glass components having all three of the above markings.
How long will it take?
The labor time needed to repair your vehicle is about two hours.

When you bring your truck in, give the dealer the attached form.
If you misplace the form, your dealer will still do the work, free of charge.
If you have changed your address or sold your truck, please fill out Section 1 of the prepaid postcard and mail it to us.
